What's That Smell?

WE'RE GRATEFUL WE had such a good time celebrating San Geraldo's birthday early with Pedro and Kathleen (yesterday's post) because he spent most of the weekend in bed with a cold or bad allergies (likely allergies).

Two-year-old Luke painted two pictures (with Kathleen) for San Geraldo. Kathleen wrote two poems to go with them. One poem is about San Geraldo's gaseous gift (i.e., farting). He likes to share. He likes to talk about it — during dinner. So does Kathleen. I don't. If I ever did fart, of course I'd talk about it (although not during a meal). But I never have. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

I found a photo from the 1980s of a day at the beach in Scituate, Massachusetts. It was greenfly (greenhead horsefly) season. Huge, aggressive flies with painful bites. We were never without our insect repellant. I'm pretty sure that's what I'm using on San Geraldo in the photo. On second glance, maybe it was air freshener — for the rest of us.

Anyway, no matter what kind of protection San Geraldo needs, I will always provide it.

DO YOU SMELL THAT?
¿HUELES ESO?
I BOUGHT LUKE STICK-ON MUSTACHES.

  3. Fart repellant! Hope SG is better now - I mean about the sniffles - I suppose there is no cure for a chronic farter.

We're both sick now! So much for our determination that it was allergies. I wouldn't say he's a "chronic" farter, just a PROUD one.

  4. Phew! We weren't the only ones wearing speedos in the 80's!!
What a cute little kid Luke is! Maybe he will grow a mustache when he can do so.
Hope SG feels better soon....nothing worse than allergies.

Luke is an adorable and sweet... and cooperative kid. Already demonstrating a kind, generous demeanor, too. Parenting, genetics, and a whole lot of good luck! Since colds aren't considered as bad as allergies, we're both better than we could be!

Luke is much too refined! (Although I do remember him farting and laughing not long ago.)

  8. Seriously funny!
You 2 skinny minnies are displaying the Speedos indeed.
We wore speedos at a lake in New Hampshire in the 70's and did the heads turn and the lips tighten up.
    I laughed.
